White Flag Projects, the St. Louis-based non-profit art institution founded and directed by Matthew Strauss, announced today that it will end its program after 10 years. Since opening in 2006 White Flag Projects has mounted 86 exhibitions and introduced 375 artists to its Midwestern audience. Recent one-person exhibitions were held with Lucas Blalock, N. Dash, Lena Henke, Ajay Kurian, Israel Lund, and Carlos Reyes. Group exhibitions included Shit Like Hair withMath Bass, Michael Bauer, Sebastian Black, Gaylen Gerber, Ann Greene Kelly, Gavin Kenyon, Susan Te Kahurangi King, and John Riepenhoff; Bard Girls Can Fly with Michael Dean, Sanya Kantarovsky, Robert Longo, Camilla Wills, Amelie von Wulffen, and Phillip Zach; and Coconut Water with Peter Hujar, Richard Kern, Linder, Sven Lukin, Win McCarthy, Ryan McGinley, and Ricky Swallow. White Flag Projects also regularly invited artists as guest curators, including Michelle Grabner, Amy Granat, and Sara VanDerBeek, among others. A series of auxiliary projects organized by Assistant Directors Sam Korman and Marie Heilich in the White Flag Library included Darja Bajagi, Morgan Canavan & K.r.m. Mooney, Cheryl Donegan, Cooper Jacoby, Davina Semo, Martine Syms, Elaine Cameron-Weir, and Dena Yago.

 
White Flag Projects produced a number of event series, including Issues, a recurring publication event offering access to over 50 national and international art periodicals otherwise unavailable locally, and A Film to be Determined, an outdoor screening series featuring undisclosed films selected by artists including Uri Aran, Dan Graham, Peter Halley, James Hoff, Jacob Kassay, Leigh Ledare, Ari Marcopoulos, Paul McCarthy, Pope.L, Rachel Rose, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Michael Williams, and Anicka Yi.
 
White Flag Projects’ program will conclude on the final day of its current exhibitions, Ill Seen Ill Saidwith Lutz Bacher, John Giorno, Yngve Holen, Tony Morgan (in collaboration with Daniel Spoerri), Robert Morris, Jean-Luc Moulène, Carlo Scarpa, Jo Spence, Banks Violette, and John Waters, with Hannah Levy in the White Flag Library. A closing reception will be held Saturday afternoon, October 29, from 12-5 PM. White Flag Projects: Summary of Exhibitions, 2006 – 2016, a catalogue of the institution’s decade of programming will be published in 2017 alongside publications on the White Flag Library and A Film to be Determined screening series.
